Autorickshaw in the USA: Man shares video from California; Netizens ask: “Meter se chalega bro?”

Autorickshaws are very popular in India and three-wheeled rickshaws are rarely found in western countries. The three-wheeled rickshaws, also known as tuk-tuks, are a common sight in India and neighboring countries. A viral video showing the vehicle on the roads of the United States has stunned social media.

The viral video shared by an Instagram user showed the black and yellow autorickshaw in California. The image of the black and yellow rickshaws plying the streets of California came as a surprise to many Indians who are used to finding the vehicle on busy and crowded Indian roads.

The recent video shared by an Instagram user, Manohar Singh Rawat, has received 24,185 likes so far.

“Auto Rikshaw in California. #artesia,” he wrote while sharing the video. The video, which shows an unusual sight of an autorickshaw in the US, went viral on the internet, drawing countless reactions including criticism and curiosity.

“Public transportation is desperately needed in the US!!,” one Instagram user commented.

Another user shared his personal experience of looking for an autorickshaw abroad and wrote: “I was in Artesia yesterday and they parked in front of the Pioneer Cash & Carry store for people to take photos!!!”

“How do I get my Maruti Celerio here?” asked a user.

One Instagram user jokingly commented: “Meter se chalega bro, jamuna par?”

“Wow, the US is being converted to India.”

Another user expressed curiosity as to how the autorickshaw made its way to the US given the high level of pollution it causes.

“How did it meet emissions requirements?” wrote Muralidharsingri.

The video also received a lot of negative response.

“I invite shitty people from third world countries,” one user wrote.

Last year, American Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti reached the embassy in Delhi by car. Garcetti received a warm welcome from embassy staff. The video, in which Garcetti drives to the embassy in a car, received a great response from Internet users.
