Last time for Kambosos

The 30-year-old Kambosos is coming off a majority decision win over Maxi Hughes in July 2023. The former didn't look great in his first outing since losing his second straight lopsided decision to Devin Haney in October 2022.

However, Kambosos took his second IBO title with his win over Hughes and the victory helped position him for the fight with Lomachenko.

Concentration could be an issue for Kambosos Jr. as he faces one of the biggest challenges of his career. The clash with Lomachenko comes just days after it was revealed that Lomachenko was ordered to pay more than $350,000 to his former manager Peter Kahn for lost wages. Kambosos is also being sued by former coach Javiel Centeno for the same reason.

The former champion must shake off any concerns outside the ring and focus on defeating one of the best of his era.

Last timeout for Lomachenko

In May 2023, Lomachenko had his own unsuccessful clash with Haney. However, Lomachenko's defeat wasn't nearly as one-sided.

In fact, the Ukrainian was so strong throughout the fight that many questioned whether he had done enough to win. Ultimately, Haney prevailed 115-113×2, 116-112, despite a furious finish from Lomachenko, who had seemingly put the former on the spot in the final two rounds.

Lomachenko has taken almost a year off between fights, but the 36-year-old is hoping to prove he still has enough energy to fend off a young championship contender en route to reclaiming gold.

The winner of the fight will not only be a world champion, but he will also be able to face one of the other 135 pound titleholders, Shakur Stevenson (WBC), or the winner of the upcoming WBA lightweight championship fight between ( c) to fight. Gervonta Davis and Frank Martin on June 15th.
