MTG Modern Horizons 3 Spoilers, Maps

Modern Horizons 3, or MH3 for short, has had a very bizarre spoiler season. Technically, the biggest set of 2024 shouldn't even have a spoiler season. It's set to debut on May 21st, but this set's spoiler season hasn't even begun yet!

Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, there have been terrible and numerous leaks about Modern Horizons 3. Potato images have been popping up all over the internet, spoiling dozens of Modern Horizons 3 cards before Wizards intended. Of course, there was no confirmation that these were necessarily real, at least until Wizards confirmed themselves.

The leaks were so widespread that Wizards of the Coast stepped in and confirmed and denied some of the leaks themselves. NO, brainstorming is not coming to Modern Horizons 3 and I can't describe how happy I am about it.

Here are all the Modern Horizons 3 spoilers confirmed so far.

MTG MH3 Mythic Spoilers

Ugin's Labyrinth offers a lot of power behind a deckbuilding limitation. This makes Ugin's Labyrinth terrifying in decks like Affinity and Fearsome Calibrated explosion. The map also has obvious uses in Tron, but players are unsure how applicable that is since it slows down finding Tron. This is the Modern Horizons 3 spoiler that most players are focused on.

Emrakul, the new worldEmrakul, the new world

Emrakul, the New World is another card that could completely change how decks like Tron work. While you have to discard it to activate this insane cost, this card is very difficult to handle and easily ends the game on the spot.

Not only does Emrakul take control of all of your creatures, but it also cannot be removed by anything cast in the same turn. This will require some very niche answers to the threat and will likely make Emrakul untouchable when it is first introduced into the format.

MH3 Spoiler Graveyard NethergoyfMH3 Spoiler Graveyard Nethergoyf

Tarmogoyf now has a cheaper brother! Before players complain that Nethergoyf killed one of the most iconic MTG cards in history, Nethergoyf only cares about your grave, which certainly makes the card feel different. There will be no flash shenanigans with this creature.

This also makes Nethergoyf's escape much more expensive. Banishing cards from your grave has the potential to shrink that card and is a very real cost to recasting that creature. Still, having the escape cost is better than not having it, as it will allow your threat to repeat itself over and over again. This will be a very interesting creature to pursue after Modern Horizons 3 releases.

Of all the Mythic Rare spoilers revealed so far, this one looks the most lackluster. Granting emerge to all creatures is certainly interesting and has its uses, but the obvious broken effects of emerge are not top of mind for many players.

Ajani, Naktal pariahAjani, Naktal pariah

There are a number of flip walkers releasing in Modern Horizons 3. Ajani, Nacatl Pariah is the only flip-walker officially revealed by Wizards of the Coast so far, but many others have been leaked by the community. These cards have not been confirmed to be real, but they certainly look like they are real. Most of these cards are definitely applicable in Commander, but could also have competing uses.

MTG Modern Horizons 3 Spoilers, Free Spells

Free Spells are among the most influential cards from previous Modern Horizons expansions. Power of negation of Modern Horizons has completely distorted several formats, and the Evoke Elementals are still a major bane to the existence of everyone in Modern, Legacy and beyond.

Modern Horizons 3 introduces a cycle of free instant and spell cards, all of which appear to have a similar alternative cost: sacrificing a non-token creature of the spell's color rather than paying the mana value.

Only two cards from this “Flare” cycle have been confirmed so far: Flare of Cultivation and Flare of Denial. The alternative costs of these cards are definitely higher than previous free spins, so it will be interesting to see how these are used.

What's worth noting is that a third flare has been leaked, but it hasn't been officially confirmed. We'll still include a picture of Flare of Malice here. Just know that it could be fake.

MTG MH3 Fetch Lands

One of the biggest things officially revealed for Modern Horizons 3 so far is, of course, the remake of the Fetch Lands in Ally colors. These Fetch Lands were last reprinted in Khans of Tarkir in 2014 and are long overdue for another release.

Fetch Lands are incredibly important for Modern, Legacy and Commander. These countries play in absolutely everything where they are legal and can present a serious financial barrier to entry for players. The reprint of these cards is perhaps the most monumental thing about this set, even if it's not the most exciting thing.

MTG Modern Horizons 3 Rares

We won't talk about every single rare card revealed so far (but you can find a list of cards at the end), but we will talk a little more about some interesting new additions to Modern Horizons 3.

We see a rebranding of some classic, powerful cards in MH3. Chthonian Nightmare, for example, is an obvious callback to the Reserved List card. Recurring nightmare.

Nulldrifter is an obvious callback to Mulldrifter. The card is much more expensive and offers a more impressive body, but doesn't play as well with blinking effects.

Wight of the Reliquary offers an interesting twist Knight of the Reliquaryturn other creatures into lands.

Psychic Frog, a callback to Psychatog, has some serious modern potential. This frog is able to draw cards, dodge and grow. It can quickly become a big problem. It doesn't have the same OTK potential as Psychatog, but it does provide card advantage that Psychatog couldn't.

Winter Moon is a similar callback to Winter ball and should punish the greedy mana bases found throughout the Modern format.

Of course, many more rare cards have been revealed for Modern Horizons 3 so far, and we will list the Modern Horizons 3 spoilers here. Notably, some incredible reprints are being legalized for the first time in Modern, such as Kappa Cannoneer.

  • Phelia, exuberant shepherd
  • Kudo, king among the bears
  • Orim's singing
  • Kappa gunner
  • Laelia, reforged blade
  • Sylvan Vault Keeper

MTG Modern Horizons 3 Commander cards

Interestingly, a Commander set will be released alongside Modern Horizons 3. Annoyingly, this won't be legal in Modern, and players have made their feelings about it completely clear.

However, some powerful cards have already been revealed that may be too powerful for Modern if they are legal for the format. Planar Nexus could do some absolutely broken things in Tron if it's legal, and will probably experiment in Legacy.

At this point, only four of Modern Horizons 3's Commander cards are officially spoiled, but there are quite a few cards that have been unofficially leaked. Here are the four Modern Horizons 3 Commander spoilers that have been officially spoiled:

MTG Modern Horizons 3 cards

There are a few interesting, unusual Modern Horizons 3 spoilers that have been officially dropped for Modern Horizons 3 so far. Another homage to existing powerhouses Red and Blue Elemental Blast, Null Elemental Blast is a colorless counterspell that can target multicolored permanents.

It may seem disappointing at first glance, but Snow-Covered Wastes is coming to Modern Horizons 3 for the first time! This can lead to some really interesting cross strategies in Limited and could otherwise be worth a lot of money later on. It seems unlikely to find a crossroads where a land of this nature could appear outside of a remake of Secret Lair.

There have been a few other powerful reprints revealed, like Priest of Titania for Elves, but the unusual cards revealed so far aren't that exciting for the most part. All the cards we haven't talked about yet that are confirmed to appear in Modern Horizons 3 are listed below:

  • It announces the end
  • Zero Elemental Blast
  • Spawn Gang Commander
  • Scurry of Gremlins
  • Snow covered waste
  • Meltdown
  • Priest of Titania

Leaked maps

While we have listed all the confirmed Modern Horizons 3 maps and some of the leaked maps, there are a lot more unofficially leaked maps that have surfaced on the internet recently. It has been confirmed that some of these, like Brainstorm, are not real. Others still need to be interpreted, but there are a number of cards that at least look like this. We show here some…worn pictures for these leaks. However, please note that these cards are not 100% authentic:
