Ole Miss Rebels weekend scouting report: Texas A&M Aggies

After slipping through Game 3 of the series at Auburn, this Ole Miss team couldn't overcome late-inning heroics from Murray State on Wednesday night. This weekend, the Rebels face their biggest test at the Texas A&M Aggies.

The Aggies are coming off a series loss at Alex Box Stadium last week and are ready to play to keep their hopes of a No. 1 national seed alive on Selection Sunday. Here are three things to look out for in this weekend's series in Oxford.

1-2-3

The trio of Gavin Grahovac, Jace LaViolette and Braden Montgomery make up the most dominant starting lineup in the country.

They all play the long ball, but what's most impressive is that they make big RBI contributions. Grahovac, LaViolette and Montgomery have combined to score 200 of the Aggies' 438 runs this season.

Anyone in this lineup can hit, but these top three hitters can really take over a game when they're at the plate.

Edit the count

As a team, the Aggies have the most walks in the SEC. These Aggies are very picky, which means they are in a lot of favorable hitting fields where they can produce and wreak havoc on the guy on the mound.

Ole Miss pitchers need to be able to successfully throw strikes in crucial moments, and the Aggies have a certain amount of swing-and-miss in their game, which comes with the territory when you leave the yard, as do their hitters.

They can play defensively

The Aggies can do it too, as they are a top-three team in the SEC in ERA. They also have a top-five defense in the SEC in field percentage, meaning this team can't beat itself. Mistakes will be rare.

Ryan Prager is the Aggies' standout player, ranking second in the SEC with his 2.67 ERA. Prager has similar traits to Nick Lodolo, another left-handed hitter who played under Jim Schlossnagle at TCU. Prager is a lefty whose speed won't dominate hitters, but his skills will create soft contact and drive the lefty crazy. Expect to see Prager on Friday night.

First pitch between the Rebels and Aggies is scheduled for Friday at 7:30 p.m. CT and will be televised on the SEC Network.
