The Google Plays Store now allows government apps to be branded with a new badge known as an official government app

Google is rolling out a new badge globally for apps created by an official state and federal government. Starting today, more than 3,000 apps from 12 countries will receive the new level. Google has been conducting a new test for this function for a long time. It will now be easier to find these official apps created by the state and federal governments.

This makes it easier to use in the context of apps created by official state and federal governments, helping users identify official apps. The company has added more than 3,000 government apps from 12 different countries to users –

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • Germany
  • France
  • Great Britain
  • Japan
  • South Korea
  • United States of America
  • Brazil
  • Indonesia
  • India
  • Mexico

Along with the above-mentioned government apps, you can easily get information about the respective authorities. These apps will have the word “Government” written underneath them, meaning they run under the supervision of the government. If you want to navigate to one of these apps, you'll see a badge to the right of the rating.

Next, you can tap the badge to open a message that says “Official Government – Make sure this app is affiliated with a government agency.” After that, you can use apps from organizations like NASA, FEMA, and IRS2Go. This was announced in November last year. If you have difficulty understanding, the company has published a help page that can help explain the problem.
