The Sea Rim Sandies had a classic day going to #birdportarthur at Sea Rim State Park. Extreme weather challenged them on May 2, but they were quite excited about their sightings, which included indigo buntings along with a variety of shorebirds.

Sherrie Roden, Christine Sliva and Jana Whittle appeared as Sea Rim Sandies. The Port Arthur Convention & Visitors Bureau sponsored the team in the Great Texas Birding Classic, which offers plenty of variety during the spring migration.

Port Arthur is located on both the Central and Mississippi flyways, which attract migratory birds to our shores, including Sabine Woods. The City of Port Arthur has read a resolution to observe May 11 as World Migratory Bird Day.
