People are sharing the food trends they wish would go away in 2024, and I have to agree with 95% of them

Food trends come and go, and while some are welcomed with open arms, others are… not so much. Everyone reaches their breaking point at some point once they've scrolled past the seventh feta pasta recipe they've seen that day. When Redditor u/MineralWaterMike asked the r/AskReddit community to share the food trend they wish would go away, people were eager to share their hot takes. Here are a few they mentioned.

1.“Soaking wet, average burgers for twenty bucks with no fixings.”

2.“'Comment 'Recipe' and I'll send it straight to your DMs!” Could you please just add the recipe to your Instagram caption?”

4.“Wagyu. Deep-fried Wagyu steak, Wagyu burgers, describing something as 'Wagyu of Turkey,' Wagyu at Arby's, etc.”

5.“Deconstruct. Do not get me wrong; I love good food. I just think it’s lazy and unimaginative 99% of the time.”

6.“The TikTok and Instagram people who just throw random things in aluminum foil with an obscene amount of cheese and call it cooking. Stop doing that.”

—u/Dels79

7.“Food trucks cost as much as a regular restaurant and ask for tips while you have to sit on some hard curb to eat your food.”

“At the moment, fast food is not much cheaper than real restaurants. Why should I go all the way to McDonald's to eat a sad, underwhelming burger when I could spend about €4 more and get a much bigger and tastier burger?” If I just want cheap food, I'll go to a local takeaway . In my experience they are cheaper than fast food chains for the amount of food you get.

“Agreed! Lobster gets lost in mac ‘n’ cheese.”

13.“Coffee shouldn’t be loaded with sugar and syrup. While we’re at it, we should just cap the cost of a coffee at $5.”

14.“Combine things and call it a 'bowl.' No, you're eating a salad with maybe chicken or salmon — not a fancy, high-protein superfood bowl.”

15.“Very expensive cuts of meat that used to be dirt cheap. Wings, flank steak, brisket, pork shoulder, etc.”

16.“Videos of people smashing and tearing baked goods apart. Yes, it's nice to see what the inside looks like, but not when you're squishing it like an overgrown toddler. Cut it open like a civilized adult.”

17.“Hot darling. It’s good, but not for everything.”

18.“Menu 'hacks' from people who don't understand the meaning of the term. Like, you just added ranch to your bacon western cheeseburger, Tiffany.”

—u/DeadMansPizzaParty

“'Secret menu items' annoy me too. It's not a secret menu item; you just bought three different things, put them together and called it a secret menu item.”

19.“Weird croissants.”

20.“Salted caramel. Please just give me caramel and don't put sea salt on it. Can we please just have caramel again? Ninety-nine percent of all caramel varieties I see now are salted.”

—u/Karnakite

21.“Excessive sauce. The sauce goes well with good food; it shouldn’t be used as a cover-up for boring food (I’m looking at you, Raising Cane’s Chicken).”

22.“Sports or concert halls with 'gourmet food.'” You'll have a $20, 2,000 calorie burger that's too sloppy to eat in one of those tiny seats, in my opinion, keep it simple.

23.“Milk alternatives come at a premium. I'm not trying to be trendy; I’m trying to go through the rest of my day without shitting my pants.”
