“Wizards Accidentally Leak Bloomburrow Map Two Months Early”

Although 2024 has an absolutely extensive lineup of sets, the most anticipated title is miraculously still a two-fighter. In one corner, Modern Horizons 3 promises to bring new power to several formats and potentially usher in a new rotation. In the other corner, Bloomburrow has one of the most tantalizing themes in years, but is still full of secrets.

Unlike Modern Horizons 3, which was leaked to the sky, Bloomburrow is still a few months away from release. According to Wizards, we shouldn't see another card from the set until July 9th, when the preview begins. At least that was the plan after the first look for Bloomburrow in February.

To thwart these best-laid plans, Wizards of the Coast accidentally leaked a Bloomburrow card early! This Bloomburrow leak reveals a fantastic reprint and a stunning showcase treatment, leaving many MTG players very excited! As tempting as it is, there's still a lot we know about this soon-to-be-popular MTG set.

Jace the Mind Sculptor returns?!

In a recent WPN article, Wizards of the Coast revealed a brand new promotion for Bloomburrow. Available exclusively in North America, Wizards has partnered with Pinfinity to create “AR-enhanced collectible pins.” As with Pinfinity's previous pins, these can be scanned to reveal “animations, music, and downloadable extras.”

As far as possible Friday Night Magic prizes go, these pins look like a very fun addition to attract players. Only one of the three available pins has been revealed so far, showing a very clever Jace. Since the Wizards revealed the addition of Jace to the set back in February, it's no surprise at all to see her here… right?

Although we know that Jace becomes her fursona in Bloomburrow, this art is not for her. Instead, as Star City Games discovered, it is actually a reprint of Jace, the Thought Former! This detail was revealed by Wizards in a video originally published alongside the WPN article.

Unfortunately, the above video was removed by Wizards shortly after they realized what they had done. Luckily, the internet is forever, so we can still marvel at the incredibly pixelated screenshot. From this, it's clear that Jace the Mind Sculptor is undeniably back, although exactly where they can be found is unclear.

During the first look for Bloomburrow, Wizards introduced the Courageous Critters showcase treatment for the set. According to Wi\zards, this will “introduce famous planeswalkers and creatures as they visit the Plane of Bloomburrow!” In theory, this sounds a lot like a planeswalker-focused bonus arc, which would admittedly be great to see.

Unfortunately for anyone hoping to see every planeswalker's fursona, it appears that Courageous Critters isn't actually a bonus hand. Instead, it appears that this unique and beautiful flagship treatment will be incredibly limited. So limited that the entire set may only contain four Courageous Critters!

Although it's hard to see, this furry reprint of Jace the Mind Sculptor bears the symbol of the Bloomburrow Commander set. This means they can be found either in Bloomburrow's pre-built Commander decks or in Collector boosters. Since this is a unique art treatment, you might expect the latter, but surprisingly it is actually the former!

On the WPN website, the product description for the Bloomburrow Commander decks tells it all. It is clearly listed here that each deck contains “1 Borderless Imagine: Courageous Critters foil card.” Unless these pre-constructed Commander decks have variations for the first time, this means that there are only four Courageous Critters cards.

Ultimately, it's difficult to say we have a complete picture yet, as Bloomburrow is still yet to release. Given the potential of a Planeswalker bonus arc, it's hard not to hope for this tantalizing possibility. Unfortunately, looking at the facts, it doesn't look like this highly anticipated bonus sheet will be appearing in Bloomburrow.

Whatever it is, we want it

While we may not know all the details about Courageous Critters, we do know one thing: players love it. When this leak surfaced on Reddit, many MTG players were quick to express their excitement. Additionally, there were a lot of completely surprising comments like “OwO *notices top card of your library*” from u/Dawgmoth.

In addition to the excitement and chills, some players were also understandably excited about the possibility of Jace, the Mind Sculptor, coming to the arena. Unfortunately, if this variant of Jace is only available in Commander decks and Collector boosters, its appearance cannot be guaranteed. While some recent Commander-exclusive cars have made their way into the arena, this is hardly common, especially with reprints.

Ultimately, since we know so little right now, we'll just have to wait for more details. Luckily, we shouldn't wait too long as Bloomburrow previews begin on July 9th. Before that, Modern Horizons 3 releases on June 14th, so there won't be a shortage of content soon.
