Man rides his bike through the store and kicks a police officer in the face

A man was sentenced to 11 months in prison after a viral video showed him driving through a busy store and then kicking a police officer in the face.

CCTV footage from a sports shop in Newcastle city center in the United Kingdom showed the defendant, Kavan Conroy, riding a moped (a small motorcycle) between people in a pedestrian area and later entering a shop without getting off his bike.

The viral video showed Conroy also driving around the store entrance in March.

The local police then launched an operation, located the accused near Eldon Square and arrested him.

However, Kavan Conroy began verbally abusing officers who were in the police car with him and later kicked one of the officers in the face.

He appeared at Newcastle Crown Court on May 17 where he was sentenced to 11 months in prison after admitting dangerous driving, threatening behavior, having no insurance, driving without a license and assaulting an emergency worker to have.

A senior police official later called Conroy's behavior a disgrace and said he was now rightly behind bars.

“He showed a complete disregard for the safety and welfare of others by riding a moped through a pedestrian area before attacking one of our officers,” he added.

The police officer expressed hope that Conroy's conviction would serve as a warning to anyone seeking to commit a crime.
