NEET paper solver gang arrested in Delhi, four held

Amid the simmering rumors and claims of a NEET paper leak in 2024, four people, including two MBBS students, were arrested for allegedly running a paper-solving gang for the NEET exam.

NEET paper leak 2024: Amid simmering rumors and allegations of a NEET 2024 paper leak, four people, including two MBBS students, were arrested for allegedly running a paper-solving gang for NEET exams here, police said on Saturday. According to news agency PTI's report, the matter came to light on May 5 when the biometric details of a student did not match during the NEET exam at Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan Mehta Vidyalaya in Tilak Marg area, police added. Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Devesh Kumar Mahla said two deputy students Sumit Mandoliya and Krishan Kesarwani were caught at the NEET exam center.

With over 24 lakh students registered, NEET (UG) 2024 was successfully conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in 4750 centers in 571 cities (including 14 cities abroad) on May 5, 2024. The case was referred to the New District Special Staff – Delhi and a special team led by Inspector Sanjay Kumar Gupta has been formed to carry out the investigation, the DCP added.

During a lengthy interrogation, Sumit Mandoliya and Krishan Kesarwani, both MBBS students, revealed the names of their handlers – Prabhat Kumar, 27, and Kishor Lal, 37 – who were nabbed from a hotel in Noida on Friday.

The official added that Kumar and Lal are residents of Rajasthan and Bihar respectively. The duo, who work as medical college admission consultants, charged between 20 and 25 lakhs from aspirants to provide substitute students for the NEET exams. They would also mix the photos of the substitute and original students to digitally create another photo and insert it into the form. This helped them mislead the auditors, the official added, PTI reported.

Another official added that Mandoliya and Kesarwani, who hail from Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh respectively, are MBBS students from different colleges.

NEET Paper Leak 2024: Four mobile phones and a Kia Seltos car recovered

Mandoliya is a second-year MBBS student in a medical college in West Bengal and Kesarwani is a first-year MBBS student in a medical college in Uttarakhand, he added. Police have recovered four mobile phones and a Kia Seltos from their possession. Police said the accused were further questioned to know their involvement in previous investigations. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
