No. 24 Texas Longhorns take on Texas Tech: Live game updates

The No. 24 Texas Longhorns (35-10, 20-10) are back in action as they return to Arlington for the annual Big 12 Championship. Their tournament opener this season is a showdown against the Texas Tech Red Raiders (31-24, 12-18).

These two teams are heading into their tournament showdown on completely opposite paths. Texas Tech lost its last game against the Arizona State Sun Devils and has lost seven of its last eight games, with the only win coming against the UNLV Runnin Rebels. However, things went better for the Longhorns.

They enter this contest having won three games in a row and secured their first win against the Kansas Jayhawks in conference play to close out the regular season. It was their sixth straight series win to close the season, bringing their overall conference series record to a dominant 9-1. Their only loss, of course, was to the BYU Cougars.

However, a win in this game is a long shot for both teams. For the Red Raiders, it keeps their slim hopes of making it to the Field of 64 alive. As for the Longhorns, a win further strengthens their bid for the postseason and positions them to land in a favorable regional position in the NCAA Tournament.
