The new chairman of the Republicans in Texas is … Abraham George

The new chairman of the Texas Republican Party is… Abraham George! Voting just took place in San Antonio, with George defeating Dana Myers by a final vote of 4,691.62 to 3,958.05.

George, the former Collin County Republican chairman, replaces outgoing chairman Matt Rinaldi.

At age 16, Abraham and his family immigrated to the United States from India, just after graduating from high school. As an adult, as Abraham prepared to vote in the 2008 presidential election, he said members of the minority community were expected to join the Democratic Party and vote for Barack Obama.

“But I disagreed with Obama and his policies. Even though it was about supporting him and the Democratic Party, I realized I needed to get involved with the Republican Party. The Dallas County GOP headquarters was near my office at the time, so I went and offered to help.”

He developed his block-walking skills and generated grassroots support for county Republicans. When he moved to Collin County in 2011, he volunteered with the Collin County Republican Party and joined various Republican and conservative clubs in the county, including serving on the Collin County Conservative Republicans Board of Directors for two years. He also served as the Credentials Committee Chair for the 2020 District and Senate Precinct Caucuses, was Vice Chair of the Collin County Republican Party, and was elected to the State Republican Executive Committee, representing Senate District 8. Through this extensive involvement in the Republican Party, he forged strong ties with the CCGOP leadership and district chairs. His enthusiasm, hard work, conservative values, and willingness to take on any role made him an obvious choice when the Collin County GOP sought a new chair, and he was elected by the Executive Committee in October 2021. In March 2022, Abraham ran unopposed in the primary election to serve a two-year term as chairman.

Abraham and his wife, a registered nurse, live in Parker with their two children. Both attend the Plano Independent School District.
