NBA talks with TNT not yet over

Fill the grave and cancel the funeral… Adam Silver says that despite all the doom and gloom surrounding the NBA's current negotiations with TNT, talks between the sides are NOT over.

The association's commissioner made it clear outside the state dinner at the White House in Washington, DC, on Thursday that he and his organization remain very open to a new contract with TNT – despite reports that the two parties are still a long way from reaching one.

Silver did not elaborate on where exactly each site is located, but he said, “We're all still talking to each other.”

“Who knows how it will turn out?” he added.

TNT has long owned the rights to NBA games, but after failing to reach a contract extension with Silver's league during a 45-day exclusivity period earlier this year, there is a growing feeling that the Association will soon have one or more new dance partners.

NBC, Disney and Amazon are all reportedly interested in getting involved, while TNT appears to be trailing off.

If no agreement is ultimately reached with the broadcaster, basketball fans are particularly worried about the future of the top studio show “Inside the NBA”.

For years, Ernie Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny “The Jet” Smith And Charles Barkley entertained fans before, after and during games on the program… and many wondered if they would continue to do so if TNT and the NBA were no longer partners.

Silver didn't seem too concerned about that possible outcome, though… and said he fully expects the dream team to stay together no matter what.

At the moment, TNT and the NBA have signed a contract for one more season, but what happens after that seems to be something everyone knows only too well.
