COMMITMENT: Cincinnati linebacker Dorian Jones commits to UVA football

The Virginia Cavaliers have made their second addition to the transfer portal since the conclusion of spring training on Saturday, signing Cincinnati linebacker Dorian Jones.

After initially committing to UTEP earlier this month, Jones transferred to UVA this week after a visit to Charlottesville.

Jones, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound sixth-year senior from Boynton Beach, Florida, spent the first four years of his college career at Louisville, where he appeared in 36 games from 2020-22 and recorded 90 total tackles.

Jones then transferred to Cincinnati – following head coach Scott Satterfield – ahead of the 2023 season, where he recorded 56 tackles in 11 games (8 starts), along with 2.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack and 1 interception. His 56 tackles were third-most on the Bearcats' defense, and he recorded a career-high 13 tackles in a dominant performance during Cincinnati's Sept. 23 loss.rd game against Oklahoma.

Jones, who graduated from American Heritage High School in South Florida, was a three-star prospect in the 2019 senior class and was named Broward County Class 5A-1A Defensive Player of the Year by the Miami Sentinel after finishing his senior season with 122 tackles and 29 TFLs.

The 'Hoos have now awarded 84 of the 85 available scholarships for the 2024 season after also receiving a commitment from Dartmouth offensive line transfer Ethan Sipe on May 1.st.
