United Football League, Week 9: Michigan warms up for Birmingham

Before their doubleheader against the Birmingham Stallions, the Michigan Panthers had a United Football League game on Sunday that didn't have much significance in the grand scheme of things. But the Panthers won't head to Birmingham disappointed after they earned a 26-22 victory over the Houston Roughnecks on Sunday with backup quarterback Bryce Perkins.

Perkins replaced starter Danny Etling, ran for two touchdowns and threw another.

Perkins managed two 25-yard runs (one of which was nullified by a holding offense) and a 21-yard completion as Michigan marched on its 5-yard touchdown run with 3:36 left to win the game. The drive began after a 28-yard punt by Houston's Hunter Niswander that Panthers wide receiver Terry Wright fumbled but was able to recover and carry 5 yards to the Michigan 39-yard line.
