DISTURBED’s music video “The Sound Of Silence” surpasses one billion views on YouTube

The official music video for DISTURBED's cover of “The Sound of Silence” has officially exceeded the billion views on Youtube.

The clip was uploaded to Youtube in December 2015, marked DISTURBED's first song to reach this milestone.

“The Sound of Silence” originally appeared on DISTURBEDsixth studio album by “Immortalized”which was published in August 2015.

In November 2019, a video was released by DISTURBEDperformance of “The Sound of Silence” in the episode of 28 March 2016 by Conan O’Brien's nightly talk show, “Conan”exceeded 100 million views on Youtubeand was thus the first “Conan” Clip to reach the milestone.

DISTURBED's studio version of “The Sound of Silence” went to number 1 in the Billboard Magazine Hard Rock and Mainstream Rock charts and became the band's highest-placing single in the top 100. It was also used in the soundtrack for “The Blacklist” and the video game “Rock Band 4”.

DISTURBED Singer David Draiman told the Colorado Springs Independent that he and his bandmates had no idea any of this would happen when they recorded the song and decided to release it as a single and music video.

“How could we?” he asked. “It was truly unprecedented within the genre. Never in a thousand years would I have dreamed that it would be so massive and used everywhere I have heard it, in figure skating, 'Dancing with the Stars'with the 9-11 Memorial and the blessing of Paul Simonwhen we met him on Maui. The word 'surreal' doesn't quite describe it.”

Last March, a remix of DISTURBED's cover of “The Sound of Silence” by Australian DJ/Producer Cyril Riley entered the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart at number 34. A month earlier, the same version of the song reached the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart.
