Dwayne Johnson announces production start window for live-action film “Vaiana”

Dwayne Johnson has released a brand new update on Disney's upcoming live-action film. Vaiana – The wonderful world of love Film. This includes a behind-the-scenes video showing Johnson in a recording booth as part of his preparations to portray Maui in a live-action film.

On his social media account, Johnson confirmed that they currently intend to begin production on the live-action Moana film this fall. This comes after the project's release date was pushed back from June 2025 to July 10, 2026.

The live-action adaptation is directed by Tony Award winner Thomas Kail and produced by Johnson, Dany and Hiram Garcia under the direction of Seven Bucks Productions, with Beau Flynn for Flynn Picture Co. Executive producers are Auli'i Cravalho and Scott Sheldon of Flynn Picture Co. Jared Bush, who wrote the screenplay for Moana, will also be involved in the production of the remake, along with Samoan industry professional Dana Ledoux Miller.

Moana 2: Release date set for 2024

Ahead of the live-action film's debut, Disney will release the highly anticipated sequel to 2016's Moana in theaters on November 27, just in time for this year's Thanksgiving holiday. Directed and written by David G. Derrick Jr., Moana 2 will feature the voices of Auli'i Cravalho and Johnson, who reprise their respective roles as Moana and Maui.

The original was directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. The film was not only a commercial success, grossing over $600 million, but also received positive reviews and two Oscar nominations, including for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.
