Alhambra double shooting under investigation – NBC Los Angeles

Police in Alhambra are searching for the gunmen who shot and killed two people in broad daylight on Friday about a block from a popular park.

The shooting was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m. in the 800 block of South Sierra Vista Avenue, according to Alhambra police, where officers found two teenagers with gunshot wounds.

The victims were taken to a nearby hospital and are said to be in stable condition, police said. Witnesses told officers they saw three men running from the area shortly after the shooting.

“I was just lying in bed, minding my business, and suddenly I heard a loud bang like a gunshot,” said Reyna Simenta, whose house was hit by a bullet.

Simenta said she, her mother and her newborn sister were home at the time of the shooting and were startled by the commotion.

“The bullet just went through and the thing was found right next to my closet,” Simenta said.

A bullet hole was visible in the family's living room window, not far from where the newborn was sleeping at the time. Fortunately, no one was injured in the shooting.

The suspects were seen driving away in what was believed to be a dark-colored sedan. It is unclear in which direction they fled. A detailed description of the people believed to have been involved in the shooting was not available.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Alhambra Police Department's Investigations Division at 626-570-5157.
