XDefiant leaks suggest future factions could include Assassin's Creed and… Rabbids?

XDefiant is the newest live-service shooter on the scene, and a leaker seems to tease some of the game's upcoming factions.

Despite facing a few delays, XDefiant (formerly known as Tom Clancy's XDefiant) finally released towards the end of last month and seems to be doing pretty well so far – or so both Fran and Connor think, although the latter of the two questions how long it can hold on with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on the way. One of XDefiant's key twists is that the various factions in the games are based on other established Ubisoft franchises, such as Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, The Division, Far Cry, and Watch Dogs. It's not exactly a stretch to guess that more factions will be added at some point, but dataminer and leaker AgainTX recently shared some insight into what might be next for the game (as spotted by Kotaku).

Some of the more boring datamining results include things like weapon sounds and names, some of which are now copyrighted (suggesting their legality), but they also seem to have shared which new factions will be coming to the game. These include Assassins from Assassin's Creed, Operators from Ghost Recon Breakpoint, GSG9 members from Rainbow Six Siege, and the Highwaymen from Far Cry: New Dawn. There were also assets and more for things like maps and character renders that provide further evidence of these additions, but again, many of these appear to have been added after the copyright was released.

The weirdest leak of all, however, concerns the factions set to appear in the game's second year, assuming it comes to that point: Rabbids and The Crew. Yes, those annoying rabbit things originally from Rayman, and… a, er, car game. I'm not entirely sure how exactly these will work, but at least it's something different? I guess so? Who knows if these two will make it into the game or not, but in the meantime, let's hope Ubisoft fixes this cheating issue.
