Chained child admitted to psychiatric hospital in Agra after viral video

Agra, June 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) A 10-year-old child kept in chains was admitted to the Institute of Mental Health and Hospital (IMHH) here after a video of him went viral on social media.

The boy's family from Gorakhpur had come to Agra to get treatment for the child, who, according to the parents, had a tendency to self-harm and was therefore chained.

Based on the disability certificate issued by the Chief Medical Officer of Sant Kabir Nagar, doctors at the Institute of Mental Health and Hospital pronounced it a case of cerebral palsy, a disability caused by brain damage, and not a psychiatric disorder.

However, the necessary clinical examinations would be carried out as part of the treatment, it was said.

On Sunday, a video went viral showing a 10-year-old boy chained to the sidewalk.

The family had travelled from Gorakhpur and said they had gone to the psychiatric hospital in Agra, now known as the Institute of Mental Health and Hospital (IMHH), but were asked to return in two days.
