Document: MPD investigates 2022 shooting as homicide

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is investigating a shooting that occurred on May 10, 2022 in the 2500 block of Pomeroy Road, SE, as a homicide after a victim succumbed to his injuries.

According to MPD documents, officers responded to the scene on a report of a shooting and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

He succumbed to his injuries on February 7.

He was identified as 40-year-old Cesar Barrera.

The Office of the Medical Chief Examiner (OCME) determined that the cause of death was complications from gunshot wounds and the manner of death was homicide.

The MPD offers a reward to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any murder in the District.
