Deputies link three gunshot victims to Tehama County shooting

A gunshot victim found early Friday in Red Bluff is linked to a shooting about 10 miles away that left another man injured and another killed, the Tehama County Sheriff's Office said.

The man found with multiple gunshot wounds in Red Bluff was arrested in connection with the earlier shooting, and a suspect is still at large, officials said. The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. Friday in the 300 block of Ventura Avenue in Gerber, sheriff's officials said.

The incident began when three men went to visit a homeowner in Gerber. At one point, an argument broke out and at least one of the visitors opened fire, leaving at least three people shot, officials said.

One man died in the home and one of the injured was taken to a local hospital and was in stable condition last Saturday, officials said.

Red Bluff police said they received a separate report shortly before 2 a.m. Friday of a man in the 100 block of Main Street in Red Bluff suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Police initially did not know the man found on Main Street was connected to the shooting of Gerber.

But police and sheriff's officials discovered that the man found in Red Bluff had been shot earlier that morning in the home in Gerber and was a suspect in the shooting, officials said.

The man found in Red Bluff was identified as 21-year-old Osbaldo Rodriguez of Red Bluff. Rodriguez was arrested in connection with the shooting, officials said.

Investigators are trying to find the second suspect in the shooting of Gerber. The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Det. Dave Epperson of the Tehama County Major Crimes Unit at 530-529-7920.
