The viral “Muffins” YouTube star reprises his role to introduce Magnolia Bakery’s latest creation

REGARD: The guy behind the legendary “Muffins” YouTube video is back

If viral videos like “Charlie Bit My Finger,” “Evolution of Dance,” or the Potter Puppet Pals are deeply embedded in your nostalgic memory, then another YouTube sensation from the early 2000s is about to brighten your day a little.

Magnolia Bakery exclusively announced to Good Morning America that it has teamed up with Liam Kyle Sullivan, known for his viral video “Muffins,” to launch a brand new menu item with a YouTube video aptly titled “Breakfast Loaves.”

“I'm a huge fan of Magnolia Bakery and a fan of breakfast breads – so I knew this was the perfect opportunity to reboot the original video,” Sullivan told “Good Morning America” about the chance to reprise his role for the partnership. “Plus, I still play the Muffin Lady in Cameo for fans and she still makes me laugh.”

He said the character was “based on my mother, who was actually an excellent cook. She knew that if she could make us kids laugh, she could get us to try new dishes.”

While Magnolia Bakery's new video closely resembles the 2007 original—which has been viewed over 26 million times and featured Sullivan as the spokesperson for “Cunningham Muffins” while listing off a number of traditional and… non-traditional flavors—there are also a handful of Easter eggs in this video, including a special Magnolia Bakery discount code on the fridge.

Bobbie Lloyd, CEO and head baker at Magnolia Bakery, told GMA that the inspiration for the new breakfast breads was our bakery's popular “fresh-from-the-oven muffins.”

“The breads are a delicious extension of our muffin recipes, packaged so you can easily enjoy them at home or at your next brunch,” she said. “We're so excited to offer them for the first time to our fans from coast to coast.”

First up is a new lemon cake that has a crispy exterior and a slightly moist crumb texture thanks to fresh lemon juice and club soda. Next is a banana chocolate cake made with fresh bananas and semi-sweet chocolate chips. And the final flavor, coffee cake crumbs, are made with a rich sour cream and butter-based batter and topped with sweet pecan cinnamon brown sugar streusel.

Customers also have the option to purchase online: A sample pack of the breakfast breads costs $36 plus shipping and is available exclusively on the bakery's website with nationwide delivery.

While the breads are a hit on their own, the bakery has encouraged fans to turn them “into French toast for a fabulous morning treat.”
