This bathroom has undergone an elegant transformation

After a leaky roof damaged the ceiling and split the old paneling in the bathroom in this 1920s duplex, homeowner Amanda Malone took the opportunity to tackle an ambitious bathroom renovation project. The result? A lavishly decadent bathroom with an undeniable spa vibe.

“When we moved here in 2012, we renovated the bathroom, but later the loft conversion resulted in a leaky roof, which caused the paint to turn yellow and the tongue and groove boards to crack,” explains Amanda. “It was time for a change.”

Amanda's inspiration started with checkered floor tiles she saw in a spa and she had always wanted a traditional toilet with a high cistern. “The existing layout suited it well and our local showroom Inspira Bathrooms created a 3D model. They fitted everything in two weeks and my partner installed the electrics and underfloor heating.”

“I've been obsessed with wallpaper and have loved William Morris' designs since visiting Cragside House in Northumberland as a child,” Amanda tells us. “This bold and beautiful pattern was a natural choice for me.”
