Man allegedly stabs woman and holds child hostage in apartment

Houston A man is facing charges for stabbing a woman and holding an 11-year-old girl at knifepoint in west Houston. The suspect, James Edward Tillman, 31, is charged in the 337th State District Court with two counts of aggravated assault on a family member.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:50 a.m. Monday at 1715 Enclave Parkway. Houston police responded to a shooting and stabbing at the Delray Apartments.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, identified as Tillman, threatened a girl at knifepoint in the kitchen of an apartment. Authorities say the girl's mother took a gun. Tillman attacked the 32-year-old woman, stabbing her while trying to take the gun away from her. A scuffle ensued, during which Tillman was shot in the face and lower body.

The woman and Tillman were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 11-year-old girl was unharmed. The woman was treated and released, while Tillman remains in the hospital.

Tillman was charged for his role in the incident.
