Witnesses report shooting outside Revere supermarket – Boston News, Weather, Sports

REVERE, MASS. (WHDH) – An apparent shooting was caught on video outside a Stop and Shop in Revere on Tuesday; two men appeared to be arguing in front of an SUV before a shot was fired.

Witnesses said they heard the gunshot and called police. Officers arrived at the scene and closed the supermarket while they investigated the incident.

“I heard the bang and thought, 'Oh God, he's going to come after me,'” said one witness.

As seen in the video, the driver of the SUV gets out and pushes a man in a white shirt. Then, witnesses say, he shot him.

The victim backs away before the driver and another person get into the SUV and it reverses away. The whole thing was recorded by a camera in a nearby car, although the driver was too shaken to speak on camera.

“I kept looking straight ahead and said, 'Please don't come over to me.' Then they just drove off and I said, 'Thank you,'” he said.

While police investigated, customers came but had to wait until the store reopened, and they were stunned when they learned what had happened.

“All I saw were police cars. I asked what was going on and – a shooting? Oh my God,” said one shopper.

“This is sad. This is really sad,” said another shopper.

Stephanie Cunha, a spokeswoman for Stop and Shop, called the apparent shooting an unfortunate incident and said the people involved were cooperating with police.

“The safety of our employees and customers is our highest priority and we are grateful to local law enforcement and first responders for their quick response,” Cunha said.

Revere police did not respond to a request for information as of 11 p.m.
