An Allentown man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with a fatal shooting in the city in July 2022, the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office said Wednesday.

Steven Michael Rosa, 30, is accused of killing Tywon Deleva Abner in the 500 block of West Allen Street. Abner, 33, of Allentown, died of a gunshot wound to the chest.

Rosa is charged with first-degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm due to a previous conviction for robbery, both of which are first-degree felonies. He is also charged with carrying a firearm without a permit, which is a third-degree felony due to the previous conviction.

Rosa is in the Lehigh County Jail on other charges. The new charges do not provide the possibility of bail.

The case was investigated by the 12th Lehigh County Judicial District, Lehigh County Homicide Task Force Detective Kevin Mriss and Allentown Police Detective Miguel Villa. The Regional Intelligence and Investigation Center assisted in the investigation.

The grand jury heard testimony from Assistant District Attorney Bethany S. Zampogna and Senior Assistant District Attorney Gregory R. Englert.

The grand jury indictment, approved by Judge Douglas G. Reichley, has been sealed and no further information can be released.
