According to Mountain View police, a Graham Middle School teacher was arrested Wednesday afternoon for allegedly abusing a 12-year-old student.

In April, the student reported that Ralph Turner, a 57-year-old Sunnyvale resident, touched her inappropriately, the statement said.

Following the report, the Mountain View School District placed Whisman Turner on leave while police investigated. During the investigation, police spoke with the victim and other students who may have been victims or witnesses, the statement said.

As part of the investigation, police obtained an arrest warrant for Turner on suspicion of “harassment and sexual assault of a child under 14 years of age and false imprisonment.” Turner was arrested without incident at around 1 p.m. on June 5, police said.

Turner was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail and is being held on $15,000 bail, according to county records.

Mountain View Police fear there may be additional victims and ask anyone with additional information to immediately contact Det. Guillermo de Lira at [email protected].

The police did not want to disclose any further details about the case and referred to ongoing investigations.
