Family of Josh Kruger's alleged murderer demands release of telephone evidence

The family of Robert Davis, who is accused of killing journalist Josh Kruger last year, is criticizing prosecutors for failing to release details about Kruger's relationship with Davis as a minor and other alleged crimes.

Davis, 20, was charged with murder and other crimes following Kruger's shooting death last October. His mother said yesterday that her son had agreed to a plea deal with prosecutors and will be sentenced on Monday. He faces 15 to 30 years in prison, she said.

The family had previously said Davis was 15 when he began a relationship with Kruger that involved drugs. Davis told them Kruger had threatened to post sexually explicit videos of him online before the shooting, they said.

His mother, Damica Davis, said her son's attorney told her that evidence from Kruger's cellphone showed Kruger had bullied her son and also committed other crimes that her son was not involved in. Because of the plea deal, that information will not come to light at trial.
