Jonathan Anderson's tomato meme becomes a Loewe clutch

Earlier this week, an heirloom tomato variety surfaced online and caught the attention of the fashion community on X. X user @giannarosinaa originally posted a terrific heirloom tomato variety on the platform, which prompted another user, @homocowboi, to respond and quickly note that the “tomato is so Loewe.” The tomato and meme later went viral, catching the attention of Loewe's creative director, Jonathan Anderson.

Anderson reposted the viral X-post and interactions surrounding the tomato to his own Instagram account, generating even more attention for the so-called Loewe tomato. As more and more people in the fashion world became aware of this masterpiece of nature, Anderson decided to capitalize on the aforementioned hype to create an actually wearable piece. Earlier today, he posted a short video of a tomato-inspired clutch on Instagram with the caption, “Loewe meme turned reality.” The apparent bag accessory appears to be made of red leather and has a shape that resembles the traditional tomato with all its ridges and edges. The stem is finished in gold and bears the Loewe emblem at the top to mark the opening of the bag, the inside of which is lined with what looks like olive green leather.

Although the piece isn't available for purchase yet, many already have it in their mental shopping cart. Some have even shared the Instagram post with comments ranging from “That was fast!!” to “He did it. He fucking did it.” Stay tuned for more information on whether this piece will be available online or in stores soon.
