A shooting Thursday night just outside Vicksburg city limits left one man hospitalized, according to Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace, and local authorities are currently on the hunt for the shooter.

“Just before 9 p.m. we received multiple reports of shots fired here at the intersection of Gibson Road and Halls Ferry Road,” Pace told the Post early Friday morning. “When officers arrived, they located a vehicle and there was evidence that it was involved. There was some damage to it that appeared to be from gunfire, but there were no casualties on scene.”

Pace said just moments later, the sheriff's office received a call from River Region Medical Center reporting that an adult male with numerous gunshot wounds had been transported to the emergency room by private vehicle.

“This individual was transported to University Medical Center (in Jackson),” Pace said. “At this time, we are still working on the case. We cannot release any further information at this time, but as soon as it is available, I will be happy to share it.”

Pace said anyone with information about Thursday's shooting is asked to call Vicksburg-Warren County's emergency number 911 or Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS.
