The United States of America truly burst onto the global cricket stage when they claimed a historic win over Pakistan at the Grand Prairie Stadium on Thursday under the leadership of Monank Patel. It was the USA's pace attack, led by Saurabh Netravalkar, that led the team to victory over one of the tournament favourites. It was Netravalkar whose heroics with the ball in the Super Over gave the USA an internet-breaking win and made the Mumbai-born cricketer a social media sensation.

Netravalkar is an engineer by profession and works for tech giant Oracle outside of cricket. When Oracle saw its 'employee' becoming a superstar on the internet, even the company took to social media to convey greetings.

“Congratulations @USACricket on a historic result! Proud of the team and our very own engineer and cricket star @Saurabh_Netra,” the post on X said.

Netravalkar, a 32-year-old left-arm fast-bat, troubled Pakistani batsmen with his disciplined line and length during his four-over stint in the ongoing T20 World Cup.

Despite taking only 2/18 in his four-over match, Netravalkar made headlines for defending 18 runs in the Super Over against the hard-hitting duo of Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed.

Different realities and dreams unfolded with each delivery of Netravalkar in the Super Over, his captivating performance helping USA to an elusive first T20I win over Pakistan.

Netravalkar played for India's U-19 team in the World Cup in his youth. Fourteen years later, he shattered the dreams of Pakistani fans who had hoped for a victory ahead of a thrilling clash against arch-rivals India.

Born in Mumbai, he impressed on the domestic tour with an astonishing tally of 30 wickets in six matches in the 2008–09 Cooch Behar Trophy.

Netravalkar was also the highest wicket-taker in the U19 Tri-Nations tournament in South Africa with eight wickets.

But in a country full of potential and talent, Netravalkar faced challenges in finding opportunities to showcase his talent.

His fairytale story began in the United States, where he was given the chance to represent a country that was still on the verge of making its mark in the world of cricket.

Against mighty Pakistan, he made Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan dance to his tune.

He orchestrated Pakistan's downfall by leading the attack in the first innings powerplay.

After making a good impression early on, Netravalkar came back and did damage when Pakistan looked to shift into high gear. Iftikhar Ahmed was the centre of the Pakistani attack.

Monank handed the ball over to Netravalkar to bowl the penultimate over and he did not disappoint his captain. Later in the Super Over, Netravalkar sealed the historic moment for USA.
