Trucker on the 210 in Pasadena allegedly shot at a driver – it was a deputy – Pasadena Star News

A truck driver has been arrested on suspicion of shooting another driver, an off-duty deputy, on the 210 Freeway in Pasadena on Thursday evening, June 6.

The uninjured deputy was wearing plain clothes and driving his own car, said California Highway Patrol officer Miguel Luevano.

Authorities do not yet know what triggered the apparent outburst of anger shortly after 9 p.m.

The officer noticed in his white Infiniti sedan that the driver of the Freightliner was treating other drivers aggressively.

On westbound 210 near Allen Avenue, the trucker began pursuing the deputy, CHP Officer Marco Silva said in a statement. The trucker flashed his headlights at the deputy.

The deputy was getting off the highway at Lake Avenue when he heard a gunshot, Silva said. He pulled into a gas station at the corner of Lake and Maple streets, checked the back of his car and saw what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

The deputy called 911.

CHP officers found the truck on northbound Highway 5, south of Highway 14, and stopped the driver. A handgun was found inside the truck, authorities said.

Jaime Emanuel Aguilar, 28, of Delano was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, the CHP said. Aguilar had been held in the Pasadena Jail since Friday despite a $1.25 million bail being posted, records show.

The CHP asked anyone with information about the case to call Officer Silva at 626-296-8100.
