Kyrie Irving's viral post on X after Dallas Mavericks lost Game 1

On Thursday night, Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks lost 107-89 to the Boston Celtics in the first game of the NBA Finals.

Irving had a rough night, recording 12 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals while shooting 6/19 field goals and 0/5 three-pointers in 36 minutes of play.

After the game, Irving made a post to X, which had over 29,000 likes and 1.2 million impressions in less than three hours.

Irving wrote: “Tribe, put GOD first and stay together, this mission is bigger than us.

Hello🤞🏾🪶♾❤️”

Irving now has a record of 0-11 in his last 11 meetings against the Celtics since the 2021 season (h/t Bleacher Report).

After the game, Irving met with the media and was asked about the mood in the Boston crowd (h/t NBA TV).

Irving: “Ultimately, it's about basketball. I'm used to being in this environment now. At the beginning of my career, I had a different relationship with Boston.”

The Mavs are currently trailing 0-1 against the Celtics in the series. Game 2 will take place again in Boston on Sunday evening.

After Sunday’s game, the teams will travel to Dallas for Games 3 and 4.

Irving is in his 13th season in the league (he was the first pick in the 2011 NBA Draft).

In addition to the Mavs, he also played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets.
