Adele reveals why she was ‘very upset’ at viral basketball game meme

Bear with her: There's a good explanation for why Adele was “looking anywhere but at the camera” in this viral basketball meme.

During a recent performance in Las Vegas, the “Hello” singer provided context for a viral clip that shows her looking disinterested while sitting courtside at a basketball game.

In a video shared on social media, Adele told her fans that cameramen approached her during the game and asked her “twice” if they could film her to put her on screen, to which she reportedly replied, “Please don't.” However, according to Adele, they “came back and filmed me” anyway.

“The reason I looked like a different person was because I was sulking because I thought, 'These (expletive) people have come back and are filming me against my will!'” she said. “And I didn't know they were broadcasting it on TV. I thought it was just in the room.”

Adele added that she actually “ignored everything and looked everywhere but at the camera,” but only because she was “very upset because I asked not to be filmed.” She also said that's why her “lips look like I have fillers in the video.” “I have naturally big lips,” she added. “I don't need fillers.”

By this point, Adele had already sparked heated backlash when she postponed her Las Vegas shows at the last minute in January 2022 due to COVID-19-related production delays, citing this as one reason why she did not want to be filmed.

“I know it sounds crazy, but I really don't like being famous,” Adele told her fans, although she admitted that some might say she “wanted it” by “sitting courtside at a basketball game.”
