1 injured in nighttime shooting in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Grand Rapids police are investigating after a man was shot early Saturday morning on the city’s south side.

Police responded to reports of shots fired at 12:50 a.m. in the area of ​​Rau's Party Store, Division Avenue S near Burton Street, Grand Rapids police Lt. Brendan Albert told MLive/The Grand Rapids Press.

Authorities found a man with serious but non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to survive, Albert said. The victim's age was not released.

Police are still working to identify a suspect. It is unclear what led to the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
