ROCHESTER HILLS, Michigan. – At least nine people, including two children, were injured in a mass shooting at an Oakland County wading pool on Saturday.

Here's what we know so far about the shooting.

When did the shooting take place?

Police said the shooting occurred on Saturday, June 15, around 5 p.m.

Where did the shooting take place?

The shooting occurred at the Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad, 1585 E. Auburn Road in Rochester Hills.

What happened?

According to police, a man drove a vehicle to the paddling pool, pulled out a gun and began shooting.

The water playground was “quite crowded,” police said.

Police described the incident as “random” in nature.

Police found a 9mm pistol at the scene. The shooter fired at least 28 times and reloaded multiple times, police said. Police believe the shooter fired two pistols.

Some victims were injured while trying to flee the scene.

The shooter fled the scene and was eventually found in a trailer park in Shelby Township, where he committed suicide a few hours after the shooting.

Who are the victims?

Police are aware of at least nine victims of the shooting – here's what we know about them.

An 8-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the head and is in critical condition. A 4-year-old boy was injured and is in stable condition. A 39-year-old woman was injured and is in critical condition. All three victims belong to the same family – a mother and her two children.

Six other adults were injured; all are in stable condition; their ages range from 30 to 78, including a married couple.

The victims were taken to four nearby hospitals for treatment.

Who is the shooter?

The shooter was a 42-year-old white man, according to Bouchard. Police believe he lived with his mother, who was not home at the time. Bouchard noted that he may have had “mental health issues.”

Police apparently discovered a rifle in the house where he was found dead.

Bouchard said they had no previous contact with the shooter and there was no criminal record.

What happens next?

The investigation into why this man decided to shoot random strangers is ongoing. Police will try to determine a motive.

There was also a working camera pointed at the wading pool at the time of the shooting; police will likely examine this camera in the coming days.

Auburn Road, for victims, their families and anyone who was at the Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad in Rochester Hills at the time of the shooting Saturday night. No appointment is necessary.
