Man dies in shooting in Westport in Kansas City, Missouri

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Kansas City police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another injured early Sunday morning in Kansas City, Missouri.

According to KCPD, officers were dispatched to the area of ​​39th Street and Broadway near Westport around 3:30 a.m. because gunshots were heard.

When officers arrived, they found an unconscious man with gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a closed business on the northeast corner of the intersection.

Officers attempted to perform life-saving measures on the man until emergency services arrived and took him to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

At the scene, investigators were informed that another man had been shot at the same location and taken to a hospital in a private car. His injuries were not life-threatening.

However, later that morning, officials were informed that the man, who had been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, had died on Sunday morning.

According to initial investigations, there were many people in the parking lot when the shots were fired and the two men were hit.
