MBTA police arrest 23-year-old woman for assaulting bus driver

Authorities said a 23-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly assaulting an MBTA bus driver on Thursday.

According to a post by the MBTA Transit Police on X, formerly Twitter, the woman allegedly physically assaulted the bus driver because she was unhappy with the stop where the bus driver dropped her off. She was taken into custody following the incident, the statement said.

The woman hit the bus driver with both her phone and her fist, said Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan The Boston Globe. The bus driver was driving on the silver line of the T, the newspaper reported.

“Officers were already on site and were informed of the incident,” Sullivan said, according to the globe.

“#MBTA bus drivers provide an invaluable service to the public. The Transit Police Department takes attacks on bus drivers extremely seriously,” the post said.
