Car accident: who is lying? is a gem and I strongly recommend you watch it on BBC iPlayer if you missed it,” he wrote. “It focuses on a single fatal road accident and tells the story of how the police were able to find out who was responsible and why. It's a mundane, if tragic, story but it's handled with such suspense and sensitivity that it's a must-see.

“I expect that with the rich new crop of police and surveillance footage, there will be many more 'true' dramas like this one. Car accident: who is lying? sets a high standard for the emerging genre.”
