Chase ends with foot chase and arrest

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 6-9-24 6:42 a.m. approx.
LOCATION: 4300 blocks from Wynolna to the Fuel Farm off Murphy Canyon
AREA/CITY: San Diego
DETAILS:

1. SDPD officers found a stolen BMW using the license plate camera on their patrol car.
2. The officers tried to stop the driver, but he fled at high speed through the streets of the city.
3. He was heading north on I-15, but at some point he hit something that flattened his right front tire.
4. On the highway he reached speeds of over 90 miles per hour.
5. As he approached the Aero Drive, the driver lost control due to the flat tire and crashed into the central barrier.
6. The suspect then jumped off on foot and ran across the southbound lanes of I-15.
7. He jumped off a 12-foot wall and entered the fuel farm on Murphy Canyon Road.
8. At some point he stole an employee's golf cart.
9. The suspect then drove to the west side of the gas station and ran toward the bushes on the hillside.
10. Officers launched a large-scale manhunt and deployed a sniffer dog when the suspect refused to surrender.
11. The suspect was bitten several times and subsequently arrested.
12. The suspect was taken to a local hospital for dog bites.
13. Both the northbound and southbound lanes were closed for the police operation.
