Australian Bachelorette star Timm goes viral after 'stumbling upon LA Pride'

Australian Bachelorette star Timm Hanly has gained worldwide fame after being interviewed at a recent WeHo Pride event.

Hanly, who performed The Bachelorette Australia in 2019 and Bachelor in Paradise in 2020 was interviewed by popular content creator Chris Stanley (@stanchris), who publishes vox pop style interviews with participants of Pride events across the US.

Hanly, founder of clothing company Front Runner, is straight – but his relaxed and refreshing attitude towards attending Pride festivals and being hit on by gay men has earned praise on social media around the world.

In the video, Stanley asks Timm about his sexuality and the Australian Bachelorette contestant says he is heterosexual and has a wife and child.

“What are you doing at Pride?” asked Chris.

“Was [Timm, his wife Briana Hanly and child Harper] just here from Australia.”

“It’s our second day here. Second day in America and we happened to be on [the parade] and I'm only here because of the atmosphere,” explained Timm.

“We love it. We absolutely love it.” he continued.

Chris asked: “Do you think gays can throw a good party?”

“Damn oath. One hundred percent. Nobody really does it better.” Says Timm.

Chris then asks: “How does it feel when a gay guy flirts with you?”

“Oh, I love this,” Timm replies and excitedly grabs Chris’s microphone.

“Let's say I'm walking down the street and a gay guy looks at me. That's just as good as a girl looking at me. That counts. That's just as good for my ego as a hot girl looking at me.” Says Timm while Chris laughs.

“Not that that's why I'm here. You just have to accept it, you know?”

Timm receives worldwide praise for his commitment to LGBT

The video on Instagram has received thousands of comments since it was posted on Stanley's account, most of which are extremely supportive of Timm's progressive stance and commitment to LGBTQI+ people.

The comments range from asking Timm and his wife to stay in the USA until “Teach the men here to be better,” from green flag emojis and GIFs to comments about Timm's positive example of non-toxic, safe masculinity.

“This is what truly comfortable and safe masculinity looks like 😌✨” is the top comment.

“This is the masculinity that people want to see more of,” said another.

The video also made many people laugh.

“I need a T-shirt that says ‘I stumbled into pride but stayed for the vibe’,” said one commentator.

“LGBTT (the other T is Tim, an ally)”, joked another.

Timm himself reacted to the video and said: “hahahahaaha I didn’t think this interview would make it but here we go 🇺🇸🇺🇸🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈”
