‘Like father, like son’: Internet compares AbRam Khan to SRK after viral paparazzi moment

Bollywood's next generation seems to be taking over the internet with one public appearance after another. Actor Sohail Khan and his ex-wife Seema Sajdeh hosted a birthday party for their younger son Yohan Khan at an upscale restaurant in Mumbai on Sunday, June 16. Among the guests were Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan's youngest son, AbRam Khan. AbRam's small gesture towards the paparazzi has sparked quite a bit of banter online.

Several short pictures of AbRam leaving Yohan's birthday party are making the rounds online. One video in particular shows AbRam sitting in his car between two of his friends as they head home. The kids, however, seemed quite unfazed by the bright lights the paparazzi were shining on them. In fact, AbRam even waved at the camera and smiled before encouraging one of his friends to do the same.

Due to AbRam's gentle demeanor, several social media users compared him to SRK, who is also known to always treat paparazzi with respect. One such comment read, “Abram is kind and humble like his father ❤️ SRK and Abram 😍.” Another added, “Abram is sooo cute and always well behaved.” A third user also noticed that AbRam and SRK have something else in common: their dimples. His comment read, “Shahrukh Khan has so many dimples 😂😂😂😂 so cute 🥰❤️.” Another showered blessings on him, writing, “Shahrukh Khan is an angelic soul. And that surely goes for the gift of Abram… May this boy shine and shine like his father. He is truly a divine, charismatic gift from Allah. May you always make your father and family proud. God’s choicest blessings to you, Abram.”

While most were taken by AbRam's sweet gesture, some focused on other aspects of the short clip. One comment in particular pointed out that children so young shouldn't be doing “nights out.” Their comment read, “Nights out? Shouldn't these kids be home in bed?😮.” Another criticized pap culture, adding, “So much fuss about poor kids. Really bad.” Many even noticed that none of the three children in the car were wearing seatbelts. One comment read, “If they weren't wearing seatbelts, they wouldn't have been wearing seatbelts…”

AbRam is not the only celebrity kid to grab attention online. Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan's eldest son, Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi, has long been the most searched celebrity kid in Indian media. Taimur has had his own memorable moments with the paparazzi, from waving to playfully displaying a toy gun. In one instance, Taimur directly told the paparazzi, “Band Karo!”

The pap culture in India has definitely evolved considering the desires of this generation of Bollywood parents. For an episode of the podcast Stupid Biryanihosted by Malaika Arora's son Arhaan Khan, a paparazzi was invited to talk about it. The candid conversation specifically touched on Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor's request not to take photos of their daughter Raha or at least use an emoji to cover her face. Alia and Ranbir finally introduced Raha to the world in December last year before heading to the annual Kapoor Christmas lunch.

Another prominent name that comes to mind when it comes to maintaining children's privacy is Sonam Kapoor. Actor Sonam Kapoor and businessman Anand Ahuja welcomed their son Vayu on August 20, 2023. However, Sonam and Anand have not officially revealed his face to the public yet.

In fact, actress Anushka Sharma and cricketer Virat Kohli have also refrained from sharing photos of their children on social media. The couple welcomed their daughter Vamika on January 11, 2021, and son Akaay on February 15, 2024. The world has not seen either of their faces yet.

In January 2022, pictures of Vamika at a cricket match between India and South Africa made the rounds online. Anushka was quick to share a PSA on her Instagram stories, stressing that Virat and her stance on the privacy debate are still the same and that Vamika's face being made public was simply a moment when she was “surprised”. The story was also shared by Virat on his Instagram handle.

For those wondering what the deal is with pictures of their children being leaked to the public, Virat has a brief explanation. During an Instagram Q&A session in May 2021, the cricketer explained the reasoning behind the couple's policy of not posting pictures of their children. He explained, “We have decided as a couple not to expose our child to social media before he understands what social media is and can make his own decision.”
