CPD: Shooting in Chicago on Winchester Avenue in West Englewood leaves six injured

CHICAGO (WLS) — According to Chicago police, six people were injured, one seriously, in a shooting on Chicago's South Side early Monday morning.

According to CPD, the injured were near two other people who began shooting at each other before fleeing the scene shortly before 2 a.m. in the 6000 block of South Winchester Avenue in the West Englewood neighborhood.

It was not immediately clear what had led to the shooting and whether there were any gunshots among the injured.

A 20-year-old man was shot in the neck and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, CPD said.

A 33-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the back was admitted to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition; a 34-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the hip was admitted to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition; and a 24-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the leg was admitted to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition.

A 31-year-old man was shot in the ankle and taken to the University of California in good condition, and a 32-year-old man was shot in the foot and taken to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition, the CPD said.

No arrests have been made as of late Monday morning, but Area One detectives are continuing their investigation.

Less than an hour before the shooting on the South Side, six people were shot in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.
