Upendra on Darshan's arrest in murder case: 'Waiting for impartial decision and justice in trial' | Tamil News

Kannada actor Upendra has expressed his opinion on the recent arrest of fellow actor Darshan in connection with the alleged murder of Renukaswamy, a case that has garnered national attention. Upendra took to X to share his concerns and call for an impartial and transparent investigation into this high-profile case.

In his post, Upendra said, “The investigation, which has been going on for the past few days, is being watched not only in Karnataka but across India. We await an impartial decision and justice in the trial of this sensational case.”

He highlighted the growing suspicions among Renukaswamy's family, the public, the media and Darshan's fans. To address these concerns, Upendra proposed several reforms aimed at greater transparency in investigations that are in the spotlight.

“In any case, the police should release the video footage of the court proceedings and all the details of the witnesses to the families of the persons concerned from time to time. This should be made mandatory by law. (Earlier, the police used to keep written records of the interrogations, but today technology has advanced so much that everything can be recorded and streamed live.)” Upendra stressed.

He also made it clear that a transparent process would prevent tampering with evidence, interference by influential people and corruption.

Here is his tweet:

Earlier, celebrities like Divya Spandana, Ram Gopal Varma and Kichcha Sudeep had also spoken out about the case. Sudeep said, “The family of the deceased deserves justice. This girl deserves justice. Renukaswamy, who died on the road, deserves justice. The unborn child deserves justice. Above all, everyone should believe in justice and in this case, justice should prevail.”

Festive offer

At the centre of the controversy are Darshan, his partner Pavithra Gowda and 10 others who were arrested for the alleged murder of Renukaswamy. Renukaswamy had reportedly sent derogatory messages to Pavithra, leading to his abduction and subsequent death at the Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru.
