Princess Charlotte's big sister moment with 'cheeky' Prince Louis goes viral on TikTok

Wherever Prince Louis goes, the five-year-old royal is guaranteed to bring hilarity and laughter to any situation, as his charming, cheeky personality turns royal stoicism on its head. Luckily for the Prince and Princess of Wales, there is always an attentive big sister around to make sure little Louis behaves as he should.

Princess Charlotte, the nine-year-old daughter of William and Kate, was a picture of royal etiquette when she appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with her family at Trooping the Colour on Saturday.

Charlotte kept an eye on her brother Louis, who was more interested in dancing, yawning and pointing at the action below. She kept reminding her brother of the “correct” behavior – and a moment from this sweet exchange between the siblings went viral on TikTok.

In a BBC clip re-shared by CNN presenter Max Foster (@maxfostercnn), Princess Charlotte can be seen asking Prince Louis to put his arms down as the fanfare for the national anthem begins.

The polite princess gently nudges her brother, whereupon the youngest Welsh sibling quickly puts her arms behind her back.

Reacting to the moment on TikTok, which has since garnered over two million views on the platform, royal fans were quick to comment on Princess Charlotte's “future queen” energy as she remained composed throughout.

Prince Louis' charming personality delighted his royal fans at Trooping the Colour

“Has anyone noticed [Princess] “Kate doesn't mind if the kids are unsettled. Kids will be kids no matter who, where or when… the older siblings will always be the BOSS, well done Charlotte,” wrote one fan.

“Charlotte is not bossy, my girl has leadership qualities!” replied another, while a third wrote: “She was brought up so well. She has her position and always behaves so well. Future queen!”

Princess Charlotte remained calm throughout the celebrations

A fourth wrote: “Charlotte definitely shows leadership qualities, Louis shows character.”

Princess Charlotte shows leadership qualities of a future monarch

Although many royal fans compare Princess Charlotte to her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and see her as having qualities one would expect from a future monarch, it is extremely unlikely that she will ever ascend the throne.

Although she is third in line to the British throne, in order for her to follow in his footsteps, her elder Prince George would have to abdicate or die – and that is assuming that the royal does not have any heirs of his own by then.

Instead, Princess Charlotte could take on the title of Princess Royal, a title currently held by her great-aunt, Princess Anne. The Princess Royal has long been considered the King's closest confidante and most loyal adviser, and has stood by him throughout his life and reign.

A royal fan wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “Princess Charlotte is the next Princess Royal. Just as the King has supported Princess Anne throughout her life, Princess Charlotte is already a constant support to Prince George.”
