Arrest after woman stabbed near CNBC office in Englewood

A man was arrested on Saturday after a woman was stabbed in the parking lot of CNBC headquarters in Englewood, New Jersey, a day earlier.

The 30-year-old victim, a CNBC employee, was driving her car on Friday night and attempting to leave the parking lot when 29-year-old Harshkuma Patel allegedly approached her and knocked on her window. When she rolled down the window, Patel began stabbing her through the window with a knife before fleeing.

The woman, who suffered multiple lacerations, was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment and released. Her identity has not been made public.

Witnesses told The Daily Voice that the suspected attacker had previously been loitering near the building, but investigators concluded that the victim did not know the attacker and the attack was unprovoked.

Further information on a possible motive has not been released.

Multiple law enforcement agencies cooperated and arrested Patel outside his Piscataway home on Saturday.

“Patel is currently in police custody at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus, NJ, awaiting his first court date in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ,” the Bergen County District Attorney's Office said in a statement.

He is accused of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, possession of weapons for illegal purposes and possession of weapons.
